Invite the Playgroup for a Fisher-Price Baby Shower

With the help of Fisher-Price® and just a little advance planning, you can throw a casual baby shower for a playgroup friend that is safe and fun for everyone.

Set the informal nature of the agenda by passing out invitations at the end of a play date just a couple weeks before the shower, and use a familiar space for the party if you can.

We like Fisher-Price Baby® (see photo, above right) as the jump-off point for decorating a shower that includes very young children. The varied colors and friendly animals in this Kit-N-Kaboodle design in tableware decorations mean you can easily incorporate safari theme pieces that are appealing to all guests while safe for the tots. Here are three ways to do it:

Hanging decorations. Dangle hanging swirls or paper fans from Fisher-Price Baby® or select decorative lanterns or lantern garland in an animal motif to coordinate with your Kit-N-Kaboodle. A monkey piñata would make a really cute “chandelier” that you can also use later in the party if the playgroup includes children who are old enough to participate in that activity.

Inflatables. Use safari animal inflatables such as elephants and monkeys as decorations, toys and favors. Populate the “habitat” with a jungle of 34” palm trees that also would look good flanking a cake table, and let an inflatable palm tree cooler hold snacks or surprises.

Wearables. While we’d love to recommend placing a tiara upon the noble head of the mother-to-be while proclaiming her Queen of the Jungle, we understand the risks if young princesses are present and crownless. It’s your call. Do embrace safari wearables, though. Play favorite group games in animal print cowboy hats and pith helmets, and note that even quieter activities such as coloring or baby bingo are more fun while wearing soft foam animal face masks!

Think of your shower in terms of a regular playgroup session with a few additions such as decorations, a guest of honor, and cupcakes! Don’t re-invent the wheel. There is no need to set aside all of the usual or favored activities and games, and a soothing sense of routine will help keep the littlest guests from over-excitement. Gear the time frame to the prevailing age bracket of the group as well.

A little something (perhaps a chocolate something dressed a giraffe print?) can be tucked discreetly into simple favor containers for the grownups to enjoy during quieter moments.
